Martha Oakes is an artist and designer based in Cohasset, Massachusetts. Martha’s paintings are created by hand by using watercolor and gouache pigment on paper, and her drawings consist of both ink and colored pencil pigment on paper. Her compositions are heavily inspired by nature, specifically the coastal landscapes that inspire Martha’s everyday life. She aims to create abstract pieces of work that instill a sense of calm and serenity with a deep connection to the outdoors.
Martha grew up in London, England, as well as PHILADELPHIA AND CONNECTICUT. After ten years in the San Francisco Bay Area, Martha LIVEs in COHASSET, MASSACHUSETTS with her HUSBAND and children. Throughout all the various places martha has called home OVER the years, her greatest source of inspiration comes from the island of Martha’s Vineyard, where her parents live year-round.
